What's the idea behind CareFlash?
CareFlash assists in addressing fear and anxiety by delivering unprecedented, world-class healthcare education and advocacy.
CareFlash provides a common place on the Internet, to and from which people may submit, retrieve and share information and well-wishes surrounding a loved one's circumstances. From joyous events such as a birth, to serious medical circumstances in the respective context of each CareFlash community, we serve-up hundreds of 3-D healthcare animations that cover disorders, procedures and anatomical function, all produced with world-class quality and accuracy, and narrated in plain language.
CareFlash also allows the owner of the site to reach-out to their community, unobtrusively allowing loved ones to become involved where, when and how it would be most beneficial. All of these features are intuitively organized in a private, invitation-only website, unique to each given patient.
And on another level, CareFlash also offers public, ailment-related blog forums that encompass our animations, and are available to anyone with a particular interest in an associated ailment.
CareFlash is completely free to our users because select industries value having their advertisements tastefully and unobtrusively deployed in the circumstances on which each unique community is based.
Who can set-up a CareFlash Community Site?
Anyone can setup an account, build their own communities, and invite as many people into each community as they would like all for free.
The person(s) charged with keeping everyone updated on the circumstances-at-hand will find CareFlash hugely valuable allowing them more time to focus on the patient and their circumstances while preserving the sanity of the caretakers with respect to stress and anxiety.
How can such a powerful application such as CareFlash be offered for free?
CareFlash is completely free to everyone because select industries value having their advertisements tastefully and unobtrusively deployed in the circumstances on which each unique community is based.
Does CareFlash provide medical advice and opinions?
No. CareFlash offers no medical opinions or advice.
Who produces the animations hosted on CareFlash?
The animations you see on CareFlash are produced by Blausen Medical Communications, a world-class medical animation and illustration company with the largest library of proprietary medical imagery in the world.
How time-consuming is it to create a CareFlash Community Site?
Setting up a CareFlash community can take as few as 30 seconds.
How do I set up a CareFlash Community Site?
To set up a site, choose the Add a Site tab. Simply enter the patient's name, their condition(s), and where they are being treated. There are optional fields that allow you to share details that will assist your friends and family in supporting the patient.
Can I have more than one CareFlash Community Site?
Absolutely. Once you are signed-up as a registered user, you can create as many communities as you would like. The sites can be opened, closed, and updated at your convenience.
Who has the authority to invite new members into a CareFlash Community Site?
The owner of each site has this power. However, the owner may decide to designate other members of the given community, to serve as co-administrators providing them the authority to invite members into the community.
How do I invite others to become members in a CareFlash Community Site that I own?
On the home page of a site, by clicking Invite more friends, prospective members can be invited by simply entering their name and email address and clicking Invite.
Can anyone find my CareFlash Community Site by using a search engine?
No. The patient sites are obscured on the Internet and require a password

Can a member within a given CareFlash Community Site (who's not the "owner" of that community) invite someone to become a member of that same CareFlash Community Site?
No, but that member can "nominate" someone for inclusion. On the home page of a site, by clicking Invite more friends, prospective members can be nominated by a member of the site, simply by entering their name and email address and clicking Invite. The nomination is then submitted via email to the owner of the site who has the option of accepting or rejecting the nomination. Upon acceptance of the nomination, the nominee will receive an email notification that they have been invited to join into that community.
How does a member of a CareFlash Community Site invite others into that community?

Do I have the ability to modify the components of a CareFlash Community Site?
As the owner of a site, you have the ability to modify anything associated with that site. If you are a member of a community site, you do not have the ability to modify many of the fields.
How do I remove members from a CareFlash Community Site?
Only the owner of a given site has the power to remove members from that site.
In 'Friends' (lower left side), click "edit" next to a member's name and a box will appear giving you the option to either Make moderator or Remove user.
Can I delete a community site?
Only the owner of a given site has the power to delete a given site. On the home page of each community site, click 'Edit this site' (top left). On the bottom of the Edit your private site page, click the red button titled 'Delete this site'. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to proceed with the deletion.
When I post updates to my community site, do the members of my CareFlash Community Site receive notifications?
Yes, when you post an update to your site, each member is notified, via email, that the update is available for them to retrieve at their convenience.
What does the notification look like?
The notification is a truncated version of the update.
Do updates need to be retrieved in an immediate fashion?
No. Updates can be retrieved at any time.
Are there limitations on how frequently recovery updates can be entered?
No, there are no limitations.
Can a "Friend post a response to an update?
Yes, and it will be seen by all community members.
What other tools are provided by CareFlash?
In addition to the updates tool, CareFlash provides users with the ability to post photos, ask for help, enter into public forums or blogs, and research the latest info on the disease of interest.
May I post photos in a community that I "own"?
Yes, simply choose the photos tab, navigate to the photo you want to include and upload it into your community.
How do I engage my community and enlist their support and involvement?
The Help and iHelp Calendar tabs allow you to post your needs in an untrusive fashion.
What can I do with the public forums, or blogs?
There are two ways to access the public forums/blogs. Firstly, on the home page you can go right to the public forums without logging in and read posted information on your area of interest. Alternatively, you can log in and participate interactively with the dialogues. You can post your opinion, ask for suggestions, and post links to information which you find particularly helpful.
What's the difference between the "public forums" hosted by CareFlash, versus the "patient community site"?
The public forums are open to all and can be accessed through search engines. The patient community sites are privately created and can only be accessed upon being invited by the owner of a given community.
