I've been trying to get my family to go in for screenings, but there seems to be a fear of what a colonoscopy is all about. I hate to think that people refuse to be screened because they fear the colonoscopy procedure. It's far better than the cancer! The procedure is a piece of cake. Gastroenterologists recommend colorectal screening at 50 years of age. With immediate family history of colon cancer, the recommendation is a screening at 10 years prior to the age of the relative's diagnosis. Ex: Dad had it at 45, you should be screened at 35. Read More and Discuss
